India's long tail was questioned following the defeat in the first two games of the five-match series against West Indies, but captain Hardik Pandya on Tuesday made it clear that his team will continue to bat with seven batters because he doesn't want to compromise on the bowling front.
"Important to succeed". These three games will be exciting, we all agreed. The long-term plans remain unchanged if there are two victories or two losses. When it comes to such (must-win) games, we must demonstrate that we are prepared. We were able to keep our pacemakers in the game and allow Axar to bowl his four overs because Nicky (Nicholas Pooran) did not come out to bat, according to Hardik in a post-game presentation.
That was the plan; I like competitive situations like these. If Nicky wants to hit, let him hit me. In the fourth T20I, I know he will hear this and attack me fiercely. We have collectively opted to bat with seven batters, and we must accept responsibility because, as it did tonight, if the hitters score runs, you don't need an eighth batter.
Hardik continued, "It's great to have someone like Surya on the team and when he takes responsibility it sends a message to the others. As Surya mentioned, they (Suryakumar and Tilak) play together and spend time together.
Suryakumar Yadav led the visitors to a seven-wicket victory over the West Indies on Tuesday in the third Twenty20 match with a 44-ball 83 after both of India's openers were out early.
India responded at Providence Stadium with 164/3, beating the winning goal of 160. Suryakumar Yadav was awarded man of the match thanks to his strike.
In the post-game press conference, Yadav spoke about his injury and stated: "I did nothing unusual. Simply by expressing myself, everything continued falling into place as I batted.
Yadav promptly corrected the reporter when he was asked if he had lost out on a potential third hundred, saying, "First of all, I would like to inform you it would have been my fourth hundred. (laughs).
"On the other hand, I never consider milestones. I always play in accordance with the demands of my squad, whether I am on 47 or 98. In order to attain the goal, I hit sixes or fours. I fulfil the needs of my staff," he continued.
With the ODI World Cup approaching, Yadav discussed his average performance in the 50-over format. He only managed to record scores of 19, 24, and 35 in the three games of the ODI series against the Windies.
His ODI statistics are quite average when compared to his T20 career, and the right-hander was blunt about it as well. He has participated in 26 ODIs so far, recording 511 runs at an average of 24.33.
Suryakumar played 10 ODIs in 2023 and averaged just 14 runs per game.
He stated the following in reference to the same: "We have played many T20Is, so it's become a habit. We frequently play T20, so all we need to do is be ourselves. But
we don't play many one-day matches, and the format is difficult. This is due to the fact that you must adapt your strategy to the game. For instance, if wickets fall early, you need to spend time in the middle (play like you're playing Test cricket), then in the middle, run a ball and finally, approach it like you're playing a T20 game in the latter stages.
When playing ODI cricket, he remarked, "Now whatever the team management has told me that I am following and trying to apply, to take my time, and then play my game."
"My performance in ODIs has been quite terrible, and recognising that fact is not shameful. Being truthful is crucial. You haven't played this format much, according to Rohit and Rahul, so you should give it some thought. If you are batting in the final 15 to 18 overs, we want you to play 45 to 50 balls, so please bat accordingly, he said.
Now it's up to me to figure out how to make this duty into an opportunity and how to help the team succeed, he continued.
As Tilak Varma was batting and 49 runs from being out when the winning runs were achieved, Surya added, "All credit to him; he is a star. He possesses a stable and clear intellect.
After the home team won the first T20 match by four runs, the West Indies overcame a late scare to defeat India by two wickets with seven balls remaining.
Suryakumar Yadav's record for 100 T20l sixes: The third T20I between India and the West Indies took place on Tuesday, August 8, in Guyana, and was won by Team India's sensation Suryakumar Yadav, also known as "Mr 360." Yadav helped his team defeat the West Indies by seven wickets by smashing the Caribbean bowlers all over the field to score 83 runs off 44 balls while chasing a daunting 160-run goal in a crucial must-win match. This was Suryakumar's 14th innings of fifty or more in T20 international play. Despite missing out on a fourth T20I century, he nonetheless broke senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's record for "six hits."

India has maintained a 2-1 series lead with their victory. There are still two games left. West Indies chose to bat first and scored 159/5 in their allotted 20 overs. A 50-run opening partnership was shared by Kyle Mayers (25 in 20 balls, three fours, and a six) and Brandon King (42 in 42 balls, five fours, and a six). After that, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually reduced to 123/5. Rovman Powell's fast 40 in 19 balls, which included a four and three sixes, enabled WI to surpass the 150-run threshold. Kuldeep Yadav (3/28) was India's preferred bowler.
